Junior Girl Scouts
Junior Girl Scout Troop 987 is a group eight fourth-grade girls, most of whom have been scouts since Kindergarten. We started our year with an annual weekend trip to Frost Valley in the Catskills where we boated, hiked, practiced archery, and many other activities. The girls recently earned their “Junior Aide” award for helping to lead younger scouts in crafts and songs. They also finished their “Food Power” award for tracking their meals, trying some interesting, new fruits and vegetables, and conducting a food drive for the Center for Food Action. The girls were inspired by the generous donations of food from customers at the local grocery store and were so pleased to help some less fortunate members of our community.
This Spring we will be learning about our environment, the importance of caring for the environment, and ways that each of us can make a difference. Our annual clean-up day will be held in April. Our troop of girls is well on their way to becoming great thinkers and futures leaders.
