The third graders are very busy! They have been learning many new things in all of the content areas.
The students have enjoyed reading the third grade trade books Class Clown and The Chocolate Touch. They are currently enjoying stories from our Storytown reading series. In a few weeks, they will begin reading the classic, Stone Fox. With every reading selection, the children are acquiring challenging vocabulary and honing their comprehension skills and strategies.The third graders are doing a fabulous job of mastering their basic multiplication facts. They are finishing up a unit on geometry, and they will soon begin a unit on multiplication and division.
In Social Studies, the children are working to complete a unit on Westward Expansion and immigration to the United States. Next, they will be studying inventions and inventors. Mrs. English is working with us on an invention project that will fit in perfectly with this unit of study.The third graders have learned all about the systems of the body in our health program. They are getting ready to start their chemistry unit in the coming weeks.
The students are very excited about learning cursive handwriting! They have learned almost half of the lowercase letters so far!
